Slate has a fun/strange/disturbing retrospective of old time-y Leap Year cartoons here aptly titled "Crazy Old Postcards Showing Women Proposing to Men on Leap Year."
(Note: they're calling it Leap Year too... isn't that what we all used to call it, until people started saying "Leap Day" this year??)
I like the one with the demon redhead proposing to an entire roomful of men including the waiter.
